Food Allergies & Food Intolerances
Course Description & Information:
- Nearly everyone at some point will experience either a food allergy or a food intolerance. When people have an unpleasant reaction to something they ate, they often think that they have an allergy to the food. Actually, however, only about 3% of adults and 6%-8% of children have clinically proven true allergic reactions to food.
This course covers common food allergies and food intolerance and distinguishes between the two. Current research is reviewed for the most common food allergies and current treatment recommendations are discussed.

Course Objectives :
- Discuss the differences between a food allergy and a food intolerance.
- Review the most common food allergies/food intolerance and along with their health implications.
- Discuss dietary guidelines for the management of food allergies and food intolerance.
- List pharmacological strategies in the management of severe food allergies.
