Course Description & Information:

  • Identifying eating disorders can often be confusing. Food addiction is considered a compulsive eating disorder where a person frequently eats either too much or too little. Food addicts often have body image issues and an emotional relationship with their food. This course defines the scope of food addition and evaluates other disordered eating patterns. Intervention strategies for overcoming a food addiction are covered in this seminar.

  • Distinguish between food addiction and food cravings.
  • Discuss the role of the endocannabinoid system in food addiction.
  • Discuss the role brain chemicals in food addiction.
  • Review the role of drug therapy in the treatment of food addiction.
