Asthma: The Immunologic Basis of Asthma and It’s Treatment
Course Description & Course Information::
- Asthma is a disease based on a complex immunologic mechanism. As with all atopic (Type-I Hypersensitivity) conditions, understanding triggering mechanisms and the importance of early intervention are important for optimum outcomes for patients. The underlying reactions caused by allergens or initiating events are outlined in this course, as is the fundamental understanding of the place for each standard medication intervention. Patient education is important for disease control. Healthcare practitioners must possess an understanding of how and why specific medications are used in Asthma, and must then be able to communicate that knowledge to patients.
