ADHD: Alternative Medical Therapies - 2 Hours Credit

Course Description & Course Information:

  • ADHD is one of the most common neurobehavioral disorders of childhood. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Topics to be discussed include types of ADHD, causes of ADHD, and nutritional and environmental factors that play a role in either the etiology of the disease or exacerbate symptoms.

Course Objectives :

  • Review Diet in the treatment of ADHD.
  • Discuss the role of the “western diet” on hyperactivity.
  • Discuss the role of fatty acids in the treatment of ADHD.
  • Review the research on food additives, chemicals and artificial sweeteners on brain activity.
